The people building Kashmiri AI
Kashmiri language technology is the work of a small number of people and groups. Each portal gathers everything one of them has released (data, models, papers and tools) so their work can be found, cited and built on, not rebuilt.
Haq Nawaz Malik
HNM Research; lists IIT Delhi on Hugging Face
The most prolific builder of open Kashmiri data. His releases cover pretraining text (KS-LIT-3M, KS-PRET-5M), synthetic OCR (Koshur Pixel and the SynthOCR-Gen generator), diacritic restoration, tokenizers, a byte-level language model, speech and dictionary data, and bharatSetu, a 22-language translation table that includes Kashmiri.
AI4Bharat
IIT Madras
Kashmiri is one of the 22 languages in AI4Bharat's open stack, so much of what Kashmiri systems are trained and tested on comes from here: the BPCC parallel corpus, the IN22 benchmarks, IndicTrans2, IndicVoices speech and the Sangraha corpus.
COIL-D / CorIL team
IIT Patna and partners
Built direct Indian-language-to-Indian-language parallel data and translation models, including Hindi↔Kashmiri, with human ratings of machine translation.
Gaash Lab
NIT Srinagar
The NIT Srinagar group behind KATHE 2026, a shared task on English→Kashmiri translation, and Bolbosh, an open Kashmiri text-to-speech system with its training data. It also released a Kashmiri fine-tune of Sarvam-Translate and a Matcha-TTS voice.
Tawseef Ahmad Mir & Aadil Ahmad Lawaye
Alliance University, Bangalore · Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri
The main body of work on Kashmiri word sense disambiguation: a sense-annotated corpus of about 19,854 sentences for 124 ambiguous words, built on Kashmiri WordNet, and a series of supervised classifiers trained on it.
Department of Linguistics, University of Kashmir
University of Kashmir, Srinagar
Long-standing computational work on Kashmiri: a paradigm-based morphological analyser and generator, the Kashmiri WordNet, and language-tools projects funded by the Government of India. Its linguists also co-authored Bolbosh.
Kashmir AI Research
Faizan Ayoub
This site's own work: Kashmiri↔English translation research, an open evaluation platform with human ratings, a public Kashmiri→English model, and this catalogue.
Jibby1729
Independent
Builds complete Kashmiri systems: KashViT for word-level OCR, and a two-stage English→Kashmiri pipeline of a Sarvam-Translate fine-tune and a character-level diacritic restorer that reports the highest KATHE score among the systems its author evaluated.
S.M.U. Qamar and co-authors
As stated in their Scientific Reports paper
Released the largest Kashmiri–English parallel corpus, about 270,000 pairs from digitised literature and written dialogue, and compared neural architectures for Kashmiri–English translation on it. The corpus is licensed for non-commercial use only.
A portal opens for anyone with at least 3 Kashmiri works in the resource hub, and each lists every hub record credited to them, so it grows as the hub does. Profile details come only from the people's own pages and papers. Missing work, or a correction? Submit it to the hub.
